Vacancy: Bitterley CE Primary School - Local Academy Board Member
Vacancy: Bitterley CE Primary School - Local Academy Board Member
A vacancy has arisen for a new member of our Local Academy Board and we are inviting people to apply.
Before you decide, you may want to know a bit more about what is involved. Local Academy Board members need not be experts in the field of education. What they do need to have is an interest in the school, safeguarding, the welfare of our children and the time and willingness to get involved.
The Local Academy Board is responsible for both the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards. The Local Academy Board carries out its role by ensuring that the school works efficiently and effectively towards achieving its vision. It does this by building a thorough knowledge of the school and its community, by both supporting and constructively challenging the school, and by ensuring accountability and compliance. The Local Academy Board of our school can be made up of parents, staff and other members of the community.
The skills you have could be very useful to the Local Academy Board. We are particularly looking for somebody with a keen interest or knowledge of Special Educational Needs or Safeguarding. However, we are also looking for what is known as ‘soft skills’ – the ability to be able to build relationships with a range of people, to be able to work as part of a team, to be able to question, and to make connections between different types of information. All Local Academy Board members are expected to be able to read straightforward budget reports and data on school standards.
Our Local Academy Board expects members to
- attend six termly meetings
- visit the school formally for monitoring purposes during the year
- visit the school informally
- commit to attend training courses, perform additional research, as required and to take part in monitoring during the school day
- have access to the internet, and agree to communicate with the Clerk and Trust, via an approved email address. Wherever possible, no printed documentation will be sent to members; there is an expectation that all information will be accessed electronically using the platform Governor Hub.
If you would like to apply to contribute to governance at our school, please email your contact details to the Clerk; l.tromans@dhmat.org.uk
We look forward to hearing from you.
